Our program’s philosophy also contains these major components:
A. Parent Involvement
B. Social and Emotional Development
C. Physical Development
D. Cognitive (Thinking) Development
E. Religious Development
Parent Involvement: Not required, but encouraged
A child’s growth and development is influenced by his or her experiences at home as well as at school. The most important person in a child’s life is the parent. We highly encourage parents to participate in our classroom program.
Social and Emotional Development
The program strives to enhance the self-worth and integrity of each young child through experiences which stress recognizing and tolerating differences, decision making, problem solving, sharing, and respecting the rights of others.
The program provides sensory and small and large muscle experiences appropriate to the developmental age of each child. An integral part of the program is the development of an awareness of health, good living habits, and nutrition.
Cognitive (Thinking) Development
The program recognizes that children learn at various rates and will develop when ready. Therefore, the curriculum provides independent, self-directed, and challenging activities in addition to group experiences. Through these activities, we cultivate the natural curiosity and creativity of each child. A balance between spontaneity and structure is essential as the young child develops knowledge and comprehension of his world. Language development is of primary importance in cognitive development.
The program helps the child to grow in a Christian way of life. We encourage respect and understanding of other children, based on the model of Christian love. Children will meet as a group with the Pastor or Associate Pastor of the church from time to time to learn about God and prayer, God’s plan for life, and to celebrate Christian holidays.
